A Farewell To Arms
I think that this was a good idea to get some new ideas as to what we would do if we were cyber attacked. It's a good exercise to get some minds in on some hypothetical events that would happen and give them a deadline to come up with some solutions.
Cyber attacks might a part of the near future and we have to be as prepared as possible for anything that can be throw at us.

The Future of Technology
I think that the future of technology is a very bright future. We're vastly improving each year and the technology is getting so advanced. Apparently some type of stealth technology is being developed now that bends light around an object to make it invisible. Crazy stuff. If we're doing that now, just imagine that technology 10 years in the future. We might be using this stealth technology to help out in conflicts around the world. That's a scary thought but I believe, for the most part that technology will be used for better purposes, like helping people.

Reading Rainbow and the future of the internet
I think that it would be good to bring Reading Rainbow on the air. I see no harm in it and it's an educational program. Bringing this show on the internet is probably the best decision that could be made for the show.
I feel like more people are online nowadays than people watching TV, so going where the most people are is definitely a good thing. Also, the internet makes content like this more accessible than TV. Someone could get online anytime of the day and have their kid watch Reading Rainbow, rather than waiting for the time spot that the show is scheduled to air on TV.
I think that the internet is definitely a tool for the future, in being that everything is making the transition to being online. There is online banking now, online TV, online jobs, etc, etc. The possibilities are almost infinite and I think that there is no end point. I think that we can keep going and continue to use the internet for just about everything that we can think of. Making anything more accessible to the public is always a good thing, and that's exactly what the internet will do for us. Make things way more accessible.

Tablets
I think that tablets are trying to replace the laptop computer, offering a more portable and accessible on-the-go computer. I've never owned a tablet, so I can't get too deep with this subject. But I have used a few tablets and I personally prefer using a laptop computer over a tablet.
Sure if you're on-the-go a tablet is more portable and doesn't take up as much space, but I don't like the idea of not having a keyboard.
I know that the newer tablet models are starting to include keyboards, but I just think that it's less of a hassle to have a keyboard that's built in to the computer and is more practical and not awkward.
I think that tablets could be the future, but for right now I'm sticking with a laptop. I just don't care too much for tablets right now and I feel like they are a bit unnecessary.

Annoying Technologies
One thing that I completely agree on is the touchless bathrooms. I can't even begin to express how annoyed I get when I walk into the a Target or Wal-Mart bathroom and I see that everything in there is touch activated. The water faucets that are touch activated are the most annoying thing in those bathrooms.
Just like the article says, I can never find that damn laser that activates the water. And good luck if you like to wash your hands for more than three seconds, because that's about how long the water stays on.
Another thing that annoys me with the touchless bathrooms are the inconsistencies with them. If a store is going to use laser sensors for the bathroom, they might as well use them for the entire bathroom. It seems as if the sink and paper towels will have the sensor but the toilet and the soap won't have it, or the toilet has it and the sink doesn't. It's pointless to do it this way because it just annoys people with having to wave their hands to try and get the appliances to work just to have to touch one of them regardless and come into contact with germs.
That's the most annoying thing I find with technology as of right now and I know it will continue to do so.

Pioneers of computer memory
This article was a learning experience, I had no idea that the guy who founded Seagate was in ex IBM employee and that he also created the first 5.25 floppy drive. It was interesting learning about the first supercomputer, which I was also unaware that IBM built the first supercomputer. It's crazy that it weighed a ton and had to be shipped through a modified cargo plane.
This article really shows how far we have come in technology. Now we can carry around little computers in our pockets, when back then the first ones weighed so much that they could barely be transported.

Facebook and Twitter
I think that Facebook and Twitter can be powerful tools that let us keep up with what is going on in the world. A lot of people on Facebook post about presidential elections, what they think about certain candidates, or just what they think about some controversial issue. If one doesn't like to watch the news, or read about what's happening in the world, Facebook could be a gateway to go look up those issues or It can even be the central point of learning about these new happenings in the world.
On the other hand, I would argue that Facebook and Twitter do the opposite more often than not. I find myself on Facebook and Twitter wasting time away when I could be doing more productive things, like studying for a test or learning something new on After Effects. I would say the two are most definitely more of a time waster than anything. They both have their advantages though, like if you're in a band or if you're a freelance photographer. Facebook and twitter could help you get the word out and advertise whatever you wanted to advertise.
So they have their advantages and disadvantages, it just depends on which way you choose to use these social media sites.

Apple vs. Samsung
I think that the consumers who want to buy these types of smart phones with these kind of features will have to go with Apple. Samsung got their own devices banned by infringing the patents that Apple had on their phones and tablets. It leaves the consumers with no other choice but to buy Apple's products. So I know that Apple will continue to make an extremely good profit on their devices as long as the patents are in effect.
Either way I believe that Apple will still be in the lead on sales over Samsung. They initially created this technology and will always have the upper hand.
Apple definitely has the lead in sales and most of the population who buy smart phones and tablets go with Apple. But who knows, maybe Samsung will come out with some new piece of technology and put a patent on it. Then this new technology may somehow trump Apple's designs and features and Samsung will come out on top. I think this is doubtful, but you never know, it could happen.

The exchange and reversibility of expression is considered ecological because it deals with the relationship between body, culture and world. This form of perception is not a representation of our world, but a representation of visual perception of how we view things.(p. 188)
The bodily techniques of perception and expression are seen through the way the music video is shown. Through camera cuts following the musical pattern, to the way that the band moves and behaves in the video, these techniques of expression and perception are a way for the music video to shine. Sight and sound also play a big role in the music video. The technique of expression and perception of sight and sound in a music video is one of the most important aspects of the music video. Aesthetics in television is required to in order to communicate with any audience. Without the aesthetics television would have no meaning and also have no purpose. Aesthetic communication is characterized by an excessive speaking that seems to break the limit of any type of sense. The aesthetics can be given a meaning after delimiting the meaning of something.
An aesthetic formation of a music video has a certain style that makes it a music video, and every music video has certain aesthetic. Even art has a certain aesthetic that doesn't let itself be categorized as a picture of "something." That picture's aesthetics tell a story. (p.166-167)

Understanding a music video comes down to its visual presentation and visual imagery. All analyses of music videos always comes down to its visual presentation and not the music itself. Music critics claim that the visual imagery represented in these videos are replacing the rationality of today's popular and even political culture. Logic and rationality have moved to the beginning of pop culture and visual imagery has moved right into the center. (p. 125-127)
Television borrows many aspects of the music video and often collaborates with music video in daily programming. Talk shows welcome bands to play on their show. The talk show is one form of entertainment and the musical performance is another. On dance shows the spotlight is not limited to the people creating the music, but also the dancers who are dancing to the music. Shows like this are considered televisions of music. Which are performances that are choreographed for broadcasting on television. (p.141-142)

Style
There are several concepts of style in music video and the styles in music video are all about relating and engaging with our environment. Expression through music video is greatly accented through the use of bodily movement, technology used and the story of the music video.
Music video as a categorical tool is used to put music into genres. This is used to answer questions about the period of time used in the music video and how authentic the music video is. As an evaluative concept, style is a brand of quality that distinguishes high quality videos from the low quality videos. The offensive and the non-offensive, etc.
Style can be purchased in the world of the music video, this means that style is the latest fashion or trend in the market. Whatever is in or out at the time music videos will try and capitalize on these trends to make the most successful music videos possible. (pg. 92,93)

Three-point editing
Three-point editing is a process used to insert media into a track in your editing software. The first two points that would be set are the in and out points of the clip in the viewer. The next step is to set the in and out points in the sequence where you want the clip to appear. One would then choose the tracks in the timeline where they want to clip to appear, then dragging the clip into the timeline.
To me the significance of three-point editing is an easy way to make sure that you get exactly what you want in your video. Setting the in and out points lets an editor get exactly what he/she wants into their video with ease. You can cut exactly what you want in our out and just drag it where you want it to be in your timeline, it's very simple.

Lyrics: The visual track of the music video is only a performance video of the band playing the song. So there is not really a story behind the video. But the lyrics tell a story of a breakup. The song seems to be about the guy being better off without the girl, hence the song title "You won't be missed"
I do believe that the visuals add new meaning to the lyrics. The vocalist of the band looks really pissed off on every part of the song excluded the choruses, so the visuals and performance shows that he is very unhappy with the relationship depicted in the lyrics.
Music: The visuals definitely provide a feeling of tempo, rhythm and texture to the song. The visuals in the video depict the band jumping, stomping and headbanging to the music. Even though there is no story in this music video I think that these visuals really enhance the meaning of the song by just showing the band playing the song and interacting with it.
Performance: I would say that this video mimics the band's concert performance, they are doing a performance video just how they would play a live show. I like this raw approach of keeping it simple and just showing the band doing what they do. I would say that the technical capabilities of the video enhance the performance, just with the high quality cameras and different angles used in the video. It really takes the music and band to a new level interacting with the audience. The band definitely appears just like I would expect them to, normal clothed guys with a few tattoos. That's the look for metal bands nowadays.

I produced a pop-punk/metal hybrid song. This song is divided into an Intro riff, verse, repeat intro riff for one measure, then a transition to a breakdown. Then a transition to the second chorus (with harmonies), then the outro riff.
At this time my visualization for my music video has been just been some type of performance video of the band playing the song, then switching to the story part of the video. And back and forth throughout the whole song. That's all I have so far but some fresh ideas will definitely come shortly.

Video Killed The Radio Star
I think that video definitely killed the radio star. Look at where we are at today with video versus radio. Yeah radio is still being used by many people. But lets face it, people only use the radio when they are driving their cars, and I think radio in cars are getting taken over by ipods and iphones.
Video has taken over every aspect of communication, and nowadays video is definitely the most prevalent form. When people want to find out any information or listen to music, the internet is the go to source.
